Midnight Rhapsody

Midnight wraps her velvet-gloved hand ’round the city. The purples of neon lights flood the big rock in the sky. A chorus of voices sing berry-sweet songs and dark, dreamy ballads. A burst of rhythm. Dancers. Then low, the dance sways with the evening breeze, the soul in tune with Midnight Rhapsody.

For Big Rock Brewery’s new Dark Ale, we decided on the name Midnight Rhapsody for its enchanting, spontaneous personality and its intimations of dark purple. To bring the label to life, we illustrated our soulful Midnight as a counterpoint to Citradelic, wrapping her around Art Deco-inspired typography to recall the chanteuses of the Jazz Age. We took advantage of the label’s transparency to place pinpoints of starlight on the backdrop of the beer’s dark glass.
